
They reminisced about Carleton before there was a GSC and discussed the current work the GSC does to improve student life at Carleton. A panel featuring Joan Higinbotham ’66, Carleton Chaplain Carolyn Fure-Slocum ’82, Matt Fikse-Verkerk ’87, Will Sheffer ’15, and Liv Phillips ’18 shared the work that was done to start OAC and the collaboration between OAC, students, faculty, and staff to present the need for a professional staff campus resource for LGBTQA+ students. 75 alumni, staff, students and parents attended the reception and panel. On October 15th, the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) and Out After Carleton (OAC) co-hosted a celebration marking the 15th anniversary of the GSC as part of Carleton’s sesquicentennial celebration. We will meet as a board on campus in April. To start, we are in the process of recruiting new members for the OAC leadership board for terms beginning in July of 2017 and planning regional events. Our goals for 2017 are mighty and we are excited to share them with you as the year unfolds. We also began a collaboration with the Multicultural Carleton Alumni Network during our spring meeting and are excited to see where this collaboration leads us this year.
